The Notre Dame Fighting Irish won what was maybe one of the craziest games of the Brian Kelly era, when they took down the Virginia Tech Hokies with a late field goal from Jonathan Doerer. It not much of an exaggeration to say that we could examine over a hundred different storylines from this game, but here are three that we can talk about today.Brian Kelly is wild, and I here for itI don care about your personal opinion of Brian Kelly, and you probably shouldn care about mine either but BK is has my heart https://www.ndfioutlet.com/Tommy_Kraemer_Jersey-97. According to every single one of us, Notre Dame and Kelly made the wrong choice with Jack Coan as the starter in this game. Coan proved us right by being terrible to start the game, but instead of Drew Pyne coming off of the bench, it was Tyler Buchner.Brian Kelly did the most BK thing he could possibly do. He starts Coan over Pyne and then gives the hook to Coan for Buchner. By some sort of crazy twist of fate, Jack Coan was called upon once again after the 2nd interception and an ankle that fell upon Buchner. Coan then turned around and played damn near perfectly to put Notre Dame in position to kick a winning field goal after first taking over while down eight points with 3:55 left in the game. Photo by Scott Taetsch/Getty ImagesPost game Brian Kelly was snarky, passive-aggressive, in shock but most importantly triumphant. One of Brian Kelly greatest assets as a coach is being able to find ways to win football games Gabriel Rubio Jersey, and he has found a whole bunch of them in some of the strangest ways possible. Everything about Kelly looked wild, and I loved it. It absolutely maddening, but this is what the first half of the season has been wild. There is a real youth movement happening right before our eyesThe sheer amount of true freshman that saw action on Saturday night can be talked about enough, and there are two reasons why:Notre Dame depth chart was absolutely gutted before and during the game. At the very top of that list was tight end Michael Mayer who has been Notre Dame most consistent weapon on offense this year. The freshmen were needed, and without their steady contributions, Notre Dame likely takes an L against the Hokies.I was told that Brian Kelly never plays freshmen....At one point on Saturday night, the Irish offense had five true freshmen out on the field at the same time. Seven true freshmen saw meaningful snaps on offense, and one of them (Joe Alt) was playing in large part because another true freshman starter being out for an injury (Blake Fisher). Photo by Lee Coleman/Icon Sportswire via Getty ImagesNot only are the freshmen a big part of Notre Dame game plan on the field right now, but without question it helps the recruiting pitch moving forward. My faith in the defense is shookThe Notre Dame defense built up quite a bit of trust equity over the last several years. It was steady and sound. It didn abruptly change games https://www.ndfioutlet.com/Michael_Vinson_Jersey-37, which was neither good or bad it just kept scoring low over the course of the season https://www.ndfioutlet.com/Osita_Ekwonu_Jersey-59. Marcus Freeman defense is much different. While the sack, turnover, and havoc rates have gone way up so has opponent scoring, which is the only real stat that matters. Ever since that first game against Florida State, wee noticed glaring issues. Reinhold Matay-USA TODAY SportsAgainst the Hokies we saw the defense reach back to that FSU game and revert to poor tackling, and massive issues on 3rd down. Are the Irish being too aggressive? I want to say es as an answer, but being aggressive is what this defense was supposed to be. I certainly don like Kyle Hamilton being playcalled out of the action with either a blitz that doesn get home or putting him up against a receiver one on one, but that just a couple of the headscratchers. There are plenty of really good players on this side of the ball, and maybe it really is just a matter of time that it comes all together to consistently dominate (Wisconsin was fun but Mertz helped). Until that time comes, I can trust the unit as much as I would like. Michael Mayer Jersey https://www.ndfioutlet.com/Tyler_Buchner_Jersey-110

I not going to lie I wasn sure if we would be sitting here discussing Air Force last Mountain West game of the season or not. In a season packed with cancellations and delays, it was easy to expect more of the same leading up to Thursday night. However, the two teams proved me wrong in the very best of ways.If you turned off Thursday night contest between Air Force and Utah State after the first eight minutes, you be forgiven for thinking that the Aggies were on their way to a blowout. Andrew Peasley and the offense looked nearly unstoppable, churning out yards on the ground and throwing to convert as needed. The Aggies first drive lasted an Air Force-esque 8 minutes and 4 seconds https://www.affoutlet.com/Christopher_Kane_Jersey-45, resulting in a four-yard touchdown pass from Peasley to Jordan Nathan.Air Force is usually the team delivering those long, slow drives, so how would the Falcons answer? The answer is through the air. That right, Haaziq Daniels showed why he the Air Force quarterback, connecting with Jake Spiewak and Daniel Morris three separate times on the first drive.Despite the newly developed air attack, Kadin Remsberg back from injury finished the drive with a 21-yard scamper into the end zone, tying things at 7 apiece. It would prove to be all Air Force from there. As Air Force kicked off for the next series, it was easy to worry that the Falcons defense just wasn ready for the brisk Logan, Utah night. Instead, they stymied the Aggies after just 13 yards and the Falcons took over after a 42-yard punt Omar Fattah Jersey.Haaziq and the crew took the field facing an 82-yard stretch to the end zone, and it took just three minutes to find pay dirt. Daniels passed the ball three more times on the second drive, completing a 49-yard bomb to Ben Peterson for the score. That right, an Air Force passing touchdown put the Falcons back in the lead for good https://www.affoutlet.com/Corey_Collins_Jersey-76.Hey siri, what is the definition of ?"This" Air Force wrangled Utah State into yet another punting situation the next time out, and the Falcons got the ball back with just 99 yards to go. This time, Air Force kept the ball on the ground the entire way down the field, and Daniels capped things off with a 37-yard run of his own to increase the gap to 21-7.As the first half ticked away, Andrew Peasley made a desperation heave towards the end zone, right into the waiting arms of the Falcons Demani Hansford. If you remember the last game against New Mexico, Air Force found itself in a spot of trouble coming out of the locker room. Even though it didn fall victim to three fumbles this week, the first drive of the second half proved disastrous. The Falcons lost 15 yards in three plays and had to punt to just past midfield. It all proved to be for naught however, as Utah State struggled throughout the contest and Air Force scored on its next two drives. In fact, the Falcons 71-yard drive was their shortest of the night. Matt Murla and Brad Roberts contributed the final two scores of the night and Tevye Schuettpelz-Rohl stayed perfect on his extra point attempts for the night. The juggernaut By the time the clock reached triple-zeroes, Haaziq Daniels had passed for 127 yards on seven completions and he added 47 additional yards on the ground. Kadin Remsberg and Brad Roberts led the way on the ground, with Remsberg eclipsing 100 yards and each player adding a score.Ethan Erickson and Matthew Malloy led the way on defense, and Malloy added an interception on top of his 6 total tackles.Andrew Peasley reached 123 yards through the air for the Aggies, along with two picks and a score. He was also Utah State leading rusher with just 53 yards.Apparently, the Falcons also managed to secure the mysterious Utah monolith, they must have been busy at halftime...The dub isn the only thing wee coming back withWelcome home, monolith Takeaways:Good, clean funAir Force struggled with fumbles two weeks ago against the Lobos putting three in a row on the turf to open the second half. This week, you couldn get the ball off the Falcons if you tried. Outside of an errant snap, there wasn an error to be found, and only two of Daniels passes hit the ground.Perfectly balanced, as all things should beWhat better than an Air Force team that can run all over the opponent? An Air Force team that can out-pass the foe as well. That exactly what we got from the Falcons this week as they topped the Aggies through the air 127-yards to 123-yards. They also tripled Utah State on the ground with 334 yards compared to just 109 for Andrew Peasley and Elelyon Noa.Putting Army on noticeIt essential to focus on this week opponent, and only this week opponent, but sometimes you have to send a message https://www.affoutlet.com/Adam_Karas_Jersey-83. Air Force has a Commander-in-Chief showdown against Army in two weeks, and a strong offensive showing is certainly one way to put the Black Knights on notice. The Falcons showed no fear in launching the ball through the air, and scoring drives longer that 70 yards proved to be no problem. No matter what happens next week at Army-Navy, the Commander-in-Chief trophy will be won or lost at West Point on Dec. 19. So, stay tuned. https://www.affoutlet.com/David_Cormier_Jersey-97 https://www.affoutlet.com/Emmanuel_Michel_Jersey-102

Welp, better late than never...Yours truly had a playdate Saturday afternoon to watch Peter Jackson brilliant Get Back documentary https://www.odoutletstore.com/Cj_Verdell_Jersey-33, and it did not disappoint. Even if you are just a casual fan, check it out, especially parts two and three, though part one is particularly fascinating if you like to know how the sausage is made, songwriting-wise. Paul McCartney is a fucking wizard.Oh, so anyway, because I was preoccupied with The Beatles, I stupidly forgot to set my Sling up to record TGFKATCW. So I had to wait until yesterday to catch the replay on ESPN, which of course was edited down to almost nothing because of ime constraint. Sure didn stop them from airing DOUBLE the normal amount of commercials, but I digress. Anyway, as a result, I was only able to watch an expurgated version of TGFKATCW, so my review will be abridged accordingly. This week, Oregon vs. Oregon StateOffense:What a difference a week makes. Offensive Coordinator Akron Zips Head Coach Joe Moorhead had Oregon offense humming, especially in the first half. Four first-half drives, four scores. And it was nice to see the Ducks play some up-tempo ball for a change, it definitely had the Beavs on their heels for a while (note to Coach Moorhead: DO THIS AGAINST UTAH ON FRIDAY, PRETTY-PLEASE).Quarterback Anthony Brown had one of his best games of the season, going 23 of 28 for 275 yards and 2 touchdowns with no interceptions. He even managed to drive the bal successfully down the field on occasion, with the highlight being the perfect, 50-yard bomb on the run to Devon Williams for the Ducks second touchdown of the day. One thing about Brown that I noticed while watching the game, and in retrospect he done this throughout the season, that on flares, screens, and check-down passes toward the boundary, he has a tendency to throw the ball behind his target, making it almost impossible for the receiver to gain any additional yardage.Oregon running game was firing on all cylinders Saturday, with Travis Dye leading the way with 99 yards on 20 carries and 2 scores. And congratulations to TD, as he becomes the 19th player in Duck history to run for 1,000 or more yards in a season. One red mark against the offense is the continued sloppiness of the Offensive Line, as they wracked up FIVE false start penalties, which at this point in the season, and at home to boot, is simply unacceptable. Conclusion: The Ducks definitely took their foot off the gas in the second half, but it was a great all-around effort nonetheless, the O-line penalties notwithstanding. 506 total yards, including 275 passing and 231 rushing, 10 for 13 on 3rd down conversions, 26 first downs, a 37-to-23 time of possession advantage https://www.odoutletstore.com/Lance_Wilhoite_Jersey-46, and 38 points. A solid game on all fronts.Final Grade: A-Defense:If we were grading simply the first half, Oregon defense would receive an A+. The Ducks absolutely stifled the Beavers through the first two quarters, allowing only 114 total yards, 7 first downs https://www.odoutletstore.com/Dane_Sipos_Jersey-110, and 3 points.A truly dominating performance from Defensive Coordinator Tim DeRuyter troops. But oh that second half. After the beat-down in the first half, a bit of a let up from Oregon defense was to be expected in the second, but holy cow. The Beavers moved the ball seemingly at will in the third and especially the fourth quarter, when Oregon State was able to turn a laugher into a bit of a nail biter, racking up 188 yards of offense and 20 points in the final frame. End Kayvon Thibodeaux had another solid game with 5 combined tackles, and 3 quarterback hits, menacing OSU signal-caller Chance Nolan throughout; linebacker Noah Sewell had a fairly pedestrian game with only 5 combined tackles before exiting the proceedings midway through the third with what appeared to be an upper body injury. And while the defense did a good job stopping the PAC 12 leading rusher B.J. Baylor, holding him to only 59 yards on the ground, once again the sieve-like secondary of Oregon allowed the Beavers receivers to run wild, with Nolan throwing for 308 yards and 2 touchdowns. Conclusion: A tale of two halves. Hopefully on Friday against Utah wel see more of the Ducks from the first half.Final Grade: BSpecial Teams:Cam Lewis made amends for last week debacle by hitting all 5 of his PAT and nailing his lone field goal attempt from 36 yards; Tom Snee punted only once for 36 yards. Seven McGee, filling in the for the departed Mycah Pittman, had a nice punt return of 16 yards in the second quarter https://www.odoutletstore.com/Jeffrey_Bassa_Jersey-126.But that onside kick. The Beavers had just scored to cut the Ducks lead to 31-15; there were less then ten minutes to go in the game; everyone in Autzen Stadium KNEW that Oregon State would probably try an onside kick everyone apparently except Oregon Special Teams Coach Bobby Williams, who obviously didn have his ands team out on the field, as Oregon State easily recovered the kick, and then promptly marched down the field and scored another touchdown to further cut into Oregon lead. Luckily it didn matter, but the lack of awareness from the coaching staff and the Duck players was gobsmacking. Conclusion: I don like to harp on one play, but it was such an abject failure, that could have had disastrous consequences, that it needed to be highlighted. Kudos to Lewis for shaking off his prior nightmare of a game against Utah.Final Grade: CCoaching: A lot of fans were nervous coming into Saturday game, and rightfully so, considering Oregon effort the week prior against Utah. But a hat tip to Head Coach Mario Cristobal and his staff for getting the team focused and ready to play in a game that still had huge consequences for the Ducks. And while the second half let down was a bit discouraging, it wasn terribly surprising and fortunately Oregon fought through it and came away with a huge win over their in-state rival. Offensive Line Coach Alex Mirabal MUST get his line to play with more discipline, that many penalties won cut it against Utah on Friday. Conclusion: Considering what Oregon was playing for the week before, and how they lost that game Devon Williams Jersey, the Ducks could have come out completely flat and lifeless against the Beavers. But instead, they played one of their best halves of football this season, and coasted to their tenth win of the campaign. And while the game got a little chippy at the end, for the most part Oregon players were able to maintain their poise and kept from getting the silly penalties that rivalry games so often generate.Final Grade: BMiscellaneous:Oregon uniforms: Simple. School colors. As it should be. AAtmosphere: The largest crowd of the season at Autzen, and they were loud. Good job, errrybody. AThe Game Day Broadcast: A good crew from ESPN, though Dave Pasch isn the same without his foil Bill Walton by his side. The next time Herm Edwards addresses the media, it will be following his team first game. That contest, now just three days away, is shaping up to be nothing short of a party in Tempe. With Sun Devil fans back in the stands for the first time since November of 2019, there will be no shortage of energy for the matchup with Southern Utah (0-1). Edwards discussed the excitement, some personnel news and more ahead of the big day. ee excited to play football, youe excited to watch football, it was great to watch some college football this past week. I cant wait to have fans in the stands, it fun to see them.s you expect, Edwards and the entire program won come out and say they expect to beat the brakes off a far inferior Southern Utah squad. He offered some insight into the Thunderbirds, and how ASU is preparing for them. hey played a lot of close games last year that they just couldn finish. They play a style of defense where they bring some pressure, they have some good coverage corners and a great linebacker (Lakea Kaho ohanohano-Davis). We better be able to block. Their QB does a nice job getting the ball out of his hands https://www.assdoutlet.com/Adam_Babb_Jersey-103, not a guy that turns the ball over at all really. Theyl come in here with a chip on their shoulder after not playing up to their potential in the first game. While the starters are solid at nearly every position for the Sun Devils, questions about the team depth have come to the forefront. In a dramatic game at Spry, the sixth ranked Wake Forest Demon Deacons were able to pick up a huge win over the Boston College Eagles to move to 9-2 on the season Gavin Ellis Jersey, and 1-0 in the ACC in the spring season. For Boston College, they fall to 0-1 after leading for almost the entirety of the second half. It was a feisty, physical game throughout, with a lot of jawing between the two teams, so I sure that Wake will be even more ecstatic to have found a way to win this one. Wake came out of the gates hot, nearly opening up the scoring inside of the first three minutes, as an awkward ball into the box from Prince Amponsah was redirected by Jahlane Forbes to a totally unmarked Nico Benalcazar eight yards from goal https://www.wfddoutlet.com/Sam_Hartman_Jersey-22, but he put he directed his shot at the goalkeeper Christian Garner, who made a leaping save to keep the score tied. Only 5 minutes later would the Deacs open the scoring, however, as Jake Swallen would receive a pass in the middle of the field from Holland Rula, take a great touch beyond a defender before placing a shot on the ground just beyond the reach of Garner, who will likely want to have that one back. For the rest of the half though, BC was mainly in control. First year head coach Bob Thompson has his team playing with a lot more energy, but still with the same physicality and fight that the team is associated with. They started knocking on the door with 31 to play in the first half, with Kristofer Konradsson hitting a shot from distance that Cole McNally handled a bit awkwardly. A better chance fell to Amos Shapiro-Thompson with 10 to go in the half, as a lofted ball from Alex Mieles found its way right onto his foot, but he couldn make good contact and McNally gratefully claimed it. They found their goal 5 minutes later, Kristofer Konradsson delivered an inswinging ball from a free kick that found the head of Stefan Sigurdarson at the front post, who nodded it into an open goal as McNally desperately lunged out to try to get something on the cross. Sigurdarson celebrated his goal by shushing Wake fan section behind the goal and jawing with the fans, setting the tone for increased tensions for the remainder of the game. Wake went into the half tied up and having been dominated for the last 15 minutes of the half, and BC domination continued into the second half. In a bizarre looking play, Konradsson picked up a loose ball in the middle of the field and carried it until he was about 25 yards from goal, hitting one along the ground across his body that froze McNally, giving the Eagles a 2-1 lead only 3 minutes into the half. McNally seemed to think that the ball was going wide by the way that he reacted to the shot, but he misjudged it and was beaten. For the rest of the game, though, Wake was mostly controlling the flow of the game as they searched for an equalizer. A free kick delivery from Swallen found David Wrona at the back post, who could only head it into the ground and back into the arms of Garner with 34 minutes to go. Omar Hernandez saw a shot from inside the 18 blocked away brilliantly by David Longo 5 minutes later. Oscar Sears saw a shot from the top of the 18 trickle just wide after a deflection by Victor Souza. David Wrona had a golden chance to even the score with 17 left in the game, receiving the ball in behind the BC defense from Swallen https://www.wfddoutlet.com/Aj_Williams_Jersey-106, cutting back beyond Wil Jacques, but ultimately curling his left footed effort wide. The Deacs seemed to had exhausted all of their chances in this game, and Boston College had done well in closing the door on them, holding possession well and allowing minimal chances. Wake earned a corner with 5 minutes to go. Omar Hernandez initial delivery was headed away by Sigurdarson, but only into the path of Hosei Kijima, who hit it half volley just inside of the near post. With just a minute and half yet, Cristian Escribano sent a ball over the top of the BC defense to David Wrona. Wrona cut it back to the top of the box to Kijima, who just needed to direct it on target with his left foot to give the Deacs a lead they would not relinquish. For Kijima, it was his first two goals in a Wake uniform. After an emotional 90 minutes, Wake came out on top over a BC team that seems to be on an upward trajectory. As for the man of the match, there is only one choice. While Jake Swallen had a good performance as well, Hosei Kijima is the runaway man of the match here. He played in the middle of the field for the full second half, a position he did not play at regularly during the fall, but he found his bearings in a new spot and contributed the equalizer and the game winner in a key ACC matchup. You can ask for much more than that. https://www.wfddoutlet.com/At_Perry_Jersey-105 https://www.wfddoutlet.com/Ryan_Smenda_Jr_Jersey-90

It was a beautiful, fall afternoon in Piscataway, N.J. for a football game and the No. 21 Wisconsin Badgers (6-3 overall, 4-2 Big Ten) enjoyed the exercise and fresh air while pummeling Rutgers (4-5 overall, 1-5 Big Ten) in a fine pulp, 52-3.Here is what J.J., Tyler and Ryan had to say about the game, Graham Mertz performance, Paul Chryst play-calling and a brief look ahead to Northwestern next weekend. What did you like about Graham Mertz performance on Saturday?J.J.: This was the development we expected to see from game one! It happening! Rutgers defense obviously, to some extent, was very clearly broken by the second half but Mertz was allowed a longer leash than usual and played mostly mistake-free ball. His pocket presence has improved so much from game one. He didn look flustered when he had to face pressure on Saturday.Photo by Rich Schultz/Getty ImagesRyan: What wasn to like? Yes, he threw an interception, but I think that was largely due to Ferguson stumbling on his route https://www.wboutletstore.com/John_Torchio_Jersey-83. The coaching staff let Mertz air it out and I think that is what he needed after throwing the ball very little over the last few games. Mertz passes were crisp and you can tell he has progressed since earlier this season.Tyler: I think he threw the ball with zip and touch when needed. The tools are still very much there and I think you saw that here. Theye raw but they exist. I glad the coaching staff got some confidence in him as they move into November. Youe winning games right now without throwing all the much, but eventually, it needs to be at least a small threat. If Chez Mellusi is out for an extended period of time and Braelon Allen remains banged up...did you like what you saw from Julius Davis, Jackson Acker and ::double checks roster:: Grover Bortolotti?J Mike Jarvis Jersey.J.: Sure! Wel go back to the obvious caveat that there reached a point in the game where the Rutgers defense had kind of checked out and that limits the amount of legitimate takeaways you can get from this game, but overall, the running back stable looked talented and deep. Obviously the ideal scenario is to get Allen and Mellusi back ASAP though.Ryan: I did. I have been wanting to see Davis get some carries for a few seasons and I thought he did a good job in limited carries. Acker showed good burst and Bortolotti looked great to finish the game and honestly is there a more Wisconsin football name than Grover Bortolotti? No, there is not.Jackson Acker getting some carries as a true freshman! Vincent Carchietta-USA TODAY SportsTyler: It was nice to finally see Davis and Acker get some touches and I liked what I saw from each. Tbh, I had four bets going in the 2:30 p.m. window (all winners) so I didn catch much of Bort, but sure! The way the line is playing in the run game I think they can tread water and keep fingers crossed that Mellusi can get back. Allen is the guy, but theye a good combo. How about that play call on fourth and goal to get John Chenal a touchdown?!? What did you think about the coaching staff on Saturday?J.J.: I say often that I think Chryst is a more clever play caller than he gets credit for. Yes, he conservative, but that only highlights how effective it is when he does go for something more deceptive like a play action when everyone expects the classic Wisconsin fourth and short smash mouth run up the cut. He not some wild gunslinging trick play extraordinaire, but he is subtly very good at those fourth and short situations. More FromBucky's 5th Quarter Badgers in the NFL: Jonathan Taylor and T.J.
